Where did we get to?
A sibling petition filed today may not reach an interview until the 2040s. Nobody remembers, across that many years, which stage they reached, what the cut-off was last Christmas, or which of life's ordinary events would quietly move their brother into a longer queue.
This is the case file. Put your category, the priority date from the I-797, and how far you have got. It stays in your browser — and the next time you open it, it tells you how far the line moved while you weren't looking.

Add the priority date from the I-797 to see where you stand.
Watch out: The petitioner must be a citizen and at least 21. A sibling case outlives most plans — keep addresses current with the National Visa Center for two decades.

Saved in this browser — clear it and the case file goes with it, so make the link if you want a backup. Cut-off dates are from the October 2026 bulletin and change monthly; confirm against the current one. No prediction of when your date becomes current is offered here, because nobody can honestly make one.
While you wait
The waiting is not passive. Two things are worth doing years before the interview: keep your address current with the National Visa Center, and check the income requirement early — the Affidavit of Support calculator shows whether you clear it today, and a sponsor who is short has years to fix it rather than weeks.
For what the categories mean and why a marriage or a naturalisation changes everything, the Visa Bulletin explained walks the whole table. If you are still deciding whom you can petition at all, start with who you can petition — and note that a parent of an adult US citizen has no queue at all.
